Transport without traffic jams
The extended European waterway network offers excellent transport facilities. One of the prime advantages of the Rotterdam port are the connextions to the European rivers. About 40% of the inland container transport is shipped by barges. The river Rhine and Meuse offer the ability to transport large volumes of containers into the heart of Europe. Almost every destination can be reached by the extensive network of European inland waterways.

The green alternative
Transport by barge offers a first class alternative to avoid the dense traffic on the European highways. Using the inland waterways is the most cost effective and environmental friendly alternative for road transport. The European authorities stimulate the use of other transport modalities like river transport to spare the overcrowded highways.
